Desk notes

Subjects on the Desk

Articles on this site are filed by subject, and each subject has its own page listing everything in it, newest first. This map explains what lives where, so you can go straight to the right pile. Section sizes are uneven: the television archive is large, while the car, legal and travel drawers are smaller and growing.

Tech

By far the largest section. It covers internet television across many countries, from the UK and France to Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Croatia and Quebec, plus set-up guides, playlists and home media hubs. Alongside the screens you will find software and AI topics such as headshot generators, file conversion and retrieval-augmented generation, small-business web topics, and digital signage. A good first read is Integrating IPTV into Your Home Entertainment System.

Cars

Running and looking after a car without the jargon: dashboard warnings, tyre care and rotation, fuel economy and insurance questions for newer vehicle types. Start with What Does the Check Engine Light Mean?

Open the Cars section

Legal

General explainers on the legal side of family and working life: powers of attorney, notaries, criminal defence and professional disputes. These are background reading, never a substitute for speaking with a local lawyer. A sensible opener is What Is a Power of Attorney?

Open the Legal section

Travel

Technology for the trip: mobile data abroad, plug adapters and voltage, and how home entertainment follows people on the move. Try What Is an eSIM? first.

Money drawers

Several smaller sections deal with money. Each article in them is general information, and we recommend getting independent advice before committing funds.

  • Investments — crypto risk, automated trading and investment migration.
  • Loans — short-term finance such as bridging loans, also filed under Concepts.
  • Insurance — cover questions that overlap with legal and professional risk.
  • Real estate — property projects, starting with driveways and paving.

Not sure where something belongs?

Some articles sit in two sections at once, for example an eSIM guide that is both travel and tech. If you cannot find what you are after, the starter list may help, or you can ask the desk directly.
