Desk notes
Privacy Notes
These notes explain what happens to personal information when you read Trier Exams Tech Desk or write to us. The short version: very little is collected, nothing is sold, and most of what does exist is outside our everyday reach. The longer version follows.
A site built from plain files
Every page on this site is generated in advance and delivered as a static file. There are no reader accounts, no comment boxes, no newsletter sign-up and no checkout. Because of that, the usual data-hungry machinery simply is not here:
- no statistics scripts tallying readers, pages or clicks;
- no ad-serving code, remarketing tags or affiliate tracking links;
- no embedded social media buttons or feeds that call outside servers;
- no fingerprinting or cross-site profiling of any kind.
A single remembered answer
When you answer the cookie message, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the message does not reappear on every page. The note lives on your device alone, never travels back to us and says nothing about who you are. Clearing this site’s stored data in your browser wipes it. More detail is on Cookie Info.
Hosting logs
Like any website, this one is delivered by a hosting provider whose servers keep brief technical logs of requests. A log line typically includes the IP address, the page requested, the time, the browser type and the referring address. These logs exist to keep the service secure and working, for example to spot attacks or faults. They are kept for a short period under the provider's own retention rules and are not combined with any other data or used to build profiles of readers. Our legal basis is a legitimate interest in running a secure website.
When you email us
If you write to notes@trierexams.com, or use the form on the contact page (which simply opens your own email program), we receive your email address, your name if you include it and whatever you choose to write. We use that only to read and answer your message and, where you report an error, to fix the guide concerned. We keep correspondence for as long as it is useful for that purpose and then delete it. We never add you to a mailing list or pass your message to anyone else unless the law requires it.
Please leave out passwords, account numbers, identity documents or health details; we do not need them to help.
Your rights
If the General Data Protection Regulation or similar laws apply to you, you have the right to:
- learn whether any message of yours is still on file, and receive it in a usable form;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- ask for deletion once we have no good reason left to hold it;
- object to or ask us to restrict how it is used;
- raise a complaint with the supervisory authority for data protection in your country.
To use any of these rights, email us from the address you used before and say what you would like us to do. We will reply within the time the law allows.
Links to other websites
Some articles mention or link to other businesses. Once you leave this site, their own privacy policies apply, and we encourage you to read them.
Children
The desk is written for adults. We have no wish to gather details from young readers and would delete any we discovered.
Changes to these notes
If the way the site works changes, for instance if a new feature ever needed more data, these notes will be updated first and the date below changed. Related terms are set out in the Terms and Conditions of Use.
